On March 14, the College of Life Science and Technology of Guangxi University successfully hosted the 18th "Life Science Junwu Seminar" in the multi-functional conference Room 107 of the state key laboratory. Professor Luo, Jie, chief scientist of Yazhou Bay National Laboratory, was invited to make an academic report. The report, chaired by Dean He Zhengguo, attracted nearly 200 teachers and graduate students from Guangxi University.
Professor Luo, Jie gave an academic report entitled "Discovery and utilization of plant metabolic gene clusters". Professor Luo, Jie introduced the common strategies for discovering metabolic gene clusters, the categories and functions of major plant metabolic gene clusters, the natural variation and evolution of plant metabolic gene clusters, and the use of forward genetic methods to explore natural variation of plant metabolic gene clusters. Through the multi-omics research method, the systematic analysis and study of plant metabolic gene clusters will help us to understand the formation process and evolutionary mechanism of plant metabolic pathways more deeply.
Professor Luo, Jie's presentation was novel in its approach to solving phenomenological problems at the molecular level, and gave a lively lesson to the teachers and students present. After the report, the teachers and students actively asked questions, and professor Luo, Jie gave in-depth answers to relevant scientific questions. The on-site exchanges were warm and the academic atmosphere was strong.
